The Escape Artist by Mike Jenkins
This piece was written during the Open-Mic at The Escapist bar in Chichester, on Thursday 30th May and performed on the same night.
The music here does not to do justice to the fantastic improvised guitar underscore provided by Jack Boyd and resident percussionist, Nigel Rippon, who stole the show with the introduction of a Kazoo towards the end, which somehow I managed to work into the poem at the same time and brought such light hearted humour. Live collaboration at its best.
Inspired, totally fitting and a beautiful experience of a ‘jamming’ with words, images, feelings, music and above all… people!
