The Baffling Case of the Bognor Bureau

by Written and Performed by Mike Jenkins

The Baffling Case of the Bognor Bureau

Originally written for The Bognor Regis Heritage Partnership as part of their Tales with a Twist short story competition and was first performed by TV and stage actress, Jean Rogers. The monologue won joint 3rd prize.

Mr R Haversham-Brookes likes to collect beautiful things. One Christmas, at a local flea market, he buys an old fashioned writing bureau and plans to spend his retirement penning fiction. Hidden in the desk is an invite to join a shadowy group of “private investigators”

“We are aware you have some questions relating to Dr David Clitheroe’s untimely demise… You shall come to know all,” it continued.

“But only if you join us. At The Bureau of Special Investigations.”
